Parish of Saint Mary Major

The parish church of Santa María la Mayor is a building that began to be built at the end of the 15th century on the castle square. It is of the architectural style called late Gothic, final Gothic, Flamboyant Gothic or "Reyes Católicos" style, which displaced Romanesque and Gothic.

It is a National Monument since 1933 and inside it keeps treasures as important as the baptismal font of the thirteenth century (which we assume comes from an earlier temple located on the same site, is very primitive popular Gothic) and the main altarpiece (year 1550-1560 and of Renaissance-Mannerist style) attributed to the Beaugrant workshop with polychromy of Juan de Rojas and Juan de Salazar.
